The commander of the Wagner PMC, Dmitry Utkin, was buried in Mytishchi near Moscow. Utkin was on board the plane that also killed the owner of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin.
The funeral of Utkin was reported by Russian media, Censor.NET informs.
Utkin was buried in the cemetery of the Pantheon of Defenders of the Fatherland memorial in Mytishchi. The entrance to the cemetery was guarded by security forces with anti-drone guns. "Wagner's members were allowed in only with military badges; civilians, except for Utkin's relatives, were not allowed to enter at all.
The territory of the cemetery was surrounded by riot police and the Russian Guard from the very morning. Part of the road was blocked by traffic police officers. Journalists were not allowed to attend the funeral.
The coffin with the body was brought to the cemetery on a gun carriage using a Tiger armoured vehicle. There was no guard of honour and no artillery salvos. Russian media noted that the funeral was held without the honours he was supposed to receive as a hero of the Russian Federation.
Utkin's grave is located next to the grave of Russian Colonel Vitaly Tabachnikov, commander of the 112th Separate Helicopter Regiment, 11th Army of the Russian Air Force and Air Defence of the Russian Armed Forces.
The Pantheon of the Defenders of the Fatherland memorial in Mytishchi, where Utkin was buried, is the largest war memorial in Russia.
