President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska met with Governor General of Canada Mary Simon at her residence in Ottawa.

According to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform, the meeting lasted about half an hour.

The Governor General was the first Canadian official Zelensky met with during his visit. From her residence, he went directly to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, with whom he will first hold a bilateral meeting and then talks in an expanded format.

Canada is a constitutional monarchy, and the head of state is the British monarch, whose interests are represented by the Governor General.

As reported, the day before, President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Canada for an unannounced visit after his visit to the United States. In Canada, he will hold talks with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, deliver a speech in parliament, and meet with business and the Ukrainian community.
