The driver of the Honda car ran into a military man at the checkpoint. The victim died from his injuries. Criminal proceedings have been initiated.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to the communications department of the Kyiv National Police.
As noted, the event took place tonight around 12:30 a.m. at the checkpoint at the entrance to the capital. Investigators from the traffic accident investigation of the capital's headquarters, an investigative-operational group, and a forensic medical expert worked on the spot.
"As it became known in advance, the driver, driving a Honda car, was moving along the M-01 highway in the direction of Brovary Prospect in the second traffic lane out of the three available, in the fog, he saw a truck in front and braked sharply.
Later, he lost control and drove into the far right lane, where he ran into a military serviceman, born in 1976, whom he was serving at a checkpoint. The victim died from his injuries at the scene," the message reads.
Investigators detained the driver of the Honda car by Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The Drager device showed that the driver, born in 1978, was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Investigators of the Kyiv police have started criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles. A pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
