On Tuesday night, the Israeli military resumed its military operation against the HAMAS terrorist organisation in the Gaza Strip.

According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Times of Israel with reference to the office of the Israeli Prime Minister.

Israel said the strikes were a response to HAMAS refusal to release hostages and accept mediators' proposals. The attacks are continuing to achieve military objectives. The IDF began the strikes after an order from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz.

"In accordance with the decision of the political echelon, the IDF and the Shin Bet are currently conducting massive strikes against HAMAS terrorist targets across the Gaza Strip," the IDF and Shin Bet said in a joint statement.

The IDF is massively attacking HAMAS' mid-level command, politburo members and infrastructure.

Netanyahu's office claims that HAMAS has "rejected all offers it has received" from US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and other mediators. In its statement on the night strikes, Netanyahu's office said they were aimed at achieving Israel's military objectives, namely the elimination of HAMAS's military and governance capabilities and the return of hostages.

"From now on, Israel will act against HAMAS with increasing military force," Netanyahu's office said.

The HAMAS-run Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip said that 232 people had been killed by Israeli airstrikes.

As a reminder, the US media reported that on Wednesday, 15 January, Israel and HAMAS reached an agreement on a ceasefire and the release of all hostages.

Earlier it was reported that on 11 January, US President-elect Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, arrived in Israel to seek a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of all hostages held by HAMAS.
