President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the National Guard soldiers on the eve of the 11th anniversary of its creation, presented state awards and noted the contribution of the National Guard to the defence of the country.

"Soldiers of the National Guard perform combat missions on an equal footing with other elements of the Defence and Security Forces of Ukraine. The units of the National Guard, the heroic soldiers of the National Guard are steadfastly defending Ukraine and achieving such important results in the destruction of the occupier," Zelenskyy said.
He noted that the NGU units are actively using drones and intelligent combat situation analysis systems.
The President presented state awards to 20 National Guardsmen. In particular, Hero of Ukraine Major Maksym Nebylytsia received "the Golden Star" Order, three servicemen received "the Cross of Military Merit", and the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, I and III degrees, the Order "for Courage", I-III degrees, and the Order of Princess Olha, III degree were also awared.
In addition, Zelenskyy handed over a battle flag to the NGU Training Centre, as well as ribbons of honour "For Courage and Bravery" to the Special Forces Centre, the 5th Slobozhanska Brigade and the 13th Operational Brigade of the NGU.
The President also got acquainted with samples of military equipment in service with the National Guard, including UAVs, small arms, military, evacuation and medical equipment.
During the full-scale war, 11,608 soldiers of the National Guard were awarded state orders, including 2,919 posthumously. The audience paid tribute to the fallen with a minute of silence.
