President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the village of Yahidne in Chernihiv region, where in 2022 the Russian occupiers had been keeping all local residents in the basement of a school for more than a month.

He posted this on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.

"Today I am in the Chernihiv region. I came to support the people of Yahidne and to preserve the memory of what had happened here during the Russian occupation. I visited the school where the Russians had been keeping all the villagers for almost a month. This was one of the most cynical Russian crimes of this war, a crime against people and everything human and humane," the president wrote.

Zelenskyy noted that despite the horrific experiences, Yahidne was now actively recovering, and many facilities had already been rebuilt. The President also stressed that the village was working on memorialising these tragic events to preserve the memory of what the locals had gone through.

"None of us will ever forget or forgive Russia for what it has done," Zelenskyy added.
