Infantrymen from the Alcatraz Battalion of the 93rd Separate Mechanised Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar" have successfully withdrawn from their positions in the Kostiantynivka sector, where they had been holding the line for over seven months.
The brigade reported this on social media, according to Censor.NET.
What is known?
According to an infantryman with the call sign "Blondin", despite several failed attempts at rotation, thwarted by the occupiers, this time the soldiers managed to withdraw successfully. The weather played a significant part in this.
The youngest in the group, "Zhid", who has just turned 21, recalls how they took up their position:
"They started picking us off straight away on the first day, half an hour after we’d changed groups. They must have fired about forty rounds at us."
He said that in this way, the enemy had been trying non-stop for two days to destroy the infantry’s position.
Holding the position
"Over the entire period they were in position, the lads managed to eliminate more than a dozen occupiers –– though the main work of clearing out the enemy’s manpower was carried out by drone operators. Direct contact occurred mainly during fog and rain, when the Russians managed to get right up close to the infantry," the brigade added.
- According to the publication "Ukrainska Pravda", all three battalion fighters are former prisoners.
The "Kholodnyi Yar" Mechanised Brigade also publishes videos about clashes with the enemy, injuries, daily life, and how they managed to supply infantrymen with medicines and provisions for months:
