Today, March 14, the next group of explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) operators successfully completed training in the Mine Action Centre of the Main Directorate of Command and Control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kamianets-Podilskyi. The Canadian instructors trained the Ukrainian servicemen to identify and destroy improvised explosive devices.
"This is the fifth graduation of highly-skilled professionals, who have been trained by the Canadian instructors according to NATO standards. I hope that the smooth-running friendly cooperation between our military will continue and the sharing of best practices, especially the combat ones, will contribute to the successful accomplishing of missions," Mine Action Centre Head, Colonel Volodymyr Rodykov said, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The officer said that the Canadian military instructors trained a total of 70 EOD experts in Ukraine under NATO standards over six months.
In turn, Commander of the Canadian contingent in Kamianets-Podilskyi Major Hugo Marcotte pointed out that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' soldiers are highly motivated and public-spirited.
"The Ukrainian officers, sergeants, and privates take training with a high degree of responsibility, seek to learn something new and share their knowledge and experience with us," Major Hugo Marcotte said.
He thanked Colonel Volodymyr Rodykov and the entire personnel of the Mine Action Centre for their support, patience, and hospitality. Canadian Armed Forces Major Hugo Marcotte has also awarded a commemorative medal to best graduate master sergeant Serhii Hrushetskyi.
