Russian strike on shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih: 18-year-old Kryvyi Rih residents Kyrylo Lopatin and Kateryna Uskova killed. PHOTO

As a result of the Russian Federation’s attack on the ‘Sunny Gallery’ shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih on 21 August, two 18-year-old residents of Kryvyi Rih – Kyrylo Lopatin and Kateryna Uskova – were killed.

This was reported by the publication "Svoi. Kryvyi Rih" and the Department of Modelling and Software Engineering at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, according to Censor.NET.

What is known about the victims

18-year-old Kyrylo Lopatin was a student at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. He was studying at the university’s Department of Modelling and Software Engineering.

The deceased, Kateryna Uskova, was due to turn 19 in September.

She was passionate about music – she played the electric guitar, wrote songs and dreamed of becoming a music producer.

What led up to it?

As a reminder, on 21 August, Russian forces struck a shopping centre in Kryvyi Rih. Attack drones carried out the strike in two waves. Sixteen people were killed.

As of 23 August, the number of casualties had risen to 140. Six of the injured are in a critical condition, including two children.
