The operatives of the Ukrainian National Police Criminal Investigation Department believe the weapons were intended for further sale on the government-controlled territory of Ukraine.
Censor.NET reports citing the statement by the National Police Communications Department.The report reads: "The members of the Kyiv Police Criminal Investigation Department in conjunction with SBU officers found a considerable armory in the apartment of a Kyiv resident today, Dec. 22.
"The authorized search was carried out in the apartment owned by a 53-year-old resident of Kyiv. The police seized about 60 handguns, almost 40 rifles and more than 800 rounds.
The law enforcers additionally seized about 200 edged weapons including hunting knives, machetes and swords. It has been established that the weapons were not registered so their origin is still to be investigated.
All impounded items were sent for expert examinations. Their owner was detained under article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The law enforcement agencies carry out investigations as part of the criminal case initiated under part 1 of the article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal possession of weapons, ammunition or explosives).
