Kherson police has prevented clashes between leftists, who were to celebrate May 1 at Ploshcha Heroiv and Park Slavy, and nationalistic patriotic forces who celebrated there 100th anniversary of the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi First Ukrainian Volunteer Regiment.
Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.About 50 representatives of leftist forces with red flags and anti-war slogans gathered at Ploshcha Heroiv. Many of them were wearing red ribbons, a symbol of communism, on their clothes. At the other side of the square gathered about 60 people, among them Donbas war veterans, Right Sector representatives, and other patriotic organization members carrying state flags of Ukraine, flags of Right Sector, and slogans in protection of Ukraine and against the "Russian world."
At some point, the opposing sides, who held their demonstrations simultaneously, started fighting. Police intervened straight away and stopped the conflict from developing.

Some time later, the demonstration of the left-wing parties ended, and the participants left the square. Some of them stayed and continued peacefully communicating with the representatives of the opposing side.
