Key points about war at President’s press conference
The summary of yesterday’s press conference of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy by the Editor-in-Chief of Censor.NET Yurii Butusov.
1. Mobilization:
- The General Staff demands to draft 500 thousand.
The government demands 500 billion hryvnias for this.
- The President does not know whether it is advisable or even possible to conscript such a large number of people and where to find the money.
- The conscription age will be lowered to 25 years.
- It is not clear how many people the army will receive for the war in 2024 10 days before the start of the new year.
2. The war in 2024
- Putin has not achieved any victories in 2023.
- It is not known when the war will end.
- The tactics will be changed. How exactly is a mystery.
- The strategy is unchanged. Liberation of the entire territory of Ukraine.
3. On the conflict between the authorities and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine V. Zaluzhnyi
- "Mariana and Valerii love swearing" - about the demands of the "servant of the people" Mariana Bezuhla to dismiss the Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine V. Zaluzhnyi.
- Zaluzhnyi should be responsible for the results.
4. Supplying the army with drones
- There is no problem of supplying drones to the army - there are 26,000 drones in stock.
- In 2024, we will produce 1 million drones.
Conclusions:
1. The government has no war strategy for 2024. A strategy is the definition of a general plan and the calculation of material and human resources.
The action plan of Chief of Staff Zaluzhnyi should be based on a clear understanding of the number of people and weapons to be replenished, and the provision of the army. If the president says he does not know what the mobilization will be like, it means that the military still does not know what kind of forces they can expect. By law, the war strategy should be determined by the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
2. In 2023, unfortunately, Russia captured Bakhmut and Soledar. A heavy offensive on Avdiivka is currently ongoing.
The enemy's successes should be recognized, not undisclosed.
Unfortunately, the president has not assessed the difficult situation in Avdiivka, which requires immediate solutions. It is strange why the fate of such a significant city has not been the subject of the president's explanations.
3. The President neither denied nor refuted Mariana Bezuhla's statements, which means that the Presidential Office supports the dismissal of Zaluzhnyi. Thus, it became clear that criticism of Zaluzhnyi was at least recognized as necessary by the president himself, who did not defend the Сommander-in-Сhief.
4. If there are 26,000 drones in the warehouse, when will they be sent to the troops? Who is responsible for the fact that the drones are not being sent to the front? How many of them will end up in Avdiivka, where the Ministry of Defense has not sent significant batches of drones for a long time? Unfortunately, the president did not answer any of these questions. The drones from the Ministry of Defence did not go to Avdiivka after the press conference.
