About UAVs, electronic warfare and interaction

Author: Andrii Kulibaba

"The Russians have posted a video of the destruction of our HIMARS and S300 (possibly Patriot). It’s the first time they’ve posted a video, Konashenkov used to only report on it, along with a million Ukrainians killed and thousands of tanks, but now there is a video, so I think the Russians hit these systems for the first time, and that’s why they’ve only now been able to post evidence.

I'll leave here my thoughts, as an ordinary junior sergeant, about this, all without any secret info and insights. This is not about the crew's actions, deployment, time and distance, which were described by Yurii Butusov in his After action review, and of course, which will be conducted, I hope, in more detail and professionally by the relevant officers. I will only write about UAVs, electronic warfare and interaction.

First. The Russians have shortened the chain of decision-making from the moment of detection to the moment of strike. Previously, it was known (Russian military commanders wrote) that there was a long approval procedure, but now it takes a matter of minutes from the moment of detection to the moment of strike.

Probably, communication has been established, and perhaps starlinks have begun to provide what we had for two years of war, an instant exchange of information.

Second. The enemy drones fly well into with a certain frequency, and in the video, we see that everything is reconnoitered, adjusted and the hit and its consequences are recorded.

This is so because Russian UAVs are decent equipment that performs the tasks required of them, there are many of them, they can lose their aircraft, taking risks, trying to get into the interior.

Therefore, in addition to the simple increase in systems, and ..... * I will not write what is here, because I think it is not allowed*.

Third. Why was the board in the air, or did they not respond to it?

Perhaps the concentration of electronic warfare in the area where the hits occurred was not sufficient, or there was a communication failure because each crew of the damaged complexes had to know about the presence of a Russian drone in the area of their positions, or a failure of someone that could happen at every level, from crews, electronic warfare, electronic signals intelligence and headquarters.

I'll just write here, a very simple but fucking unrealistic thing, that there should be maximum interaction of everyone with each other, and taking into account all the available information, often horizontal interaction and situational awareness even at the level of individual electronic warfare/electronic signals intelligence departments.

Fourth. We know that there is a Lancet that flies 70+ kilometers, and enemy aircraft fly deep, which means that there is a great need for electronic warfare, both for suppression and direction finding.

And what is equally important is that even 100 kilometers from the front, you have to be on the alert, because the Lancet and the adjusting aircraft can be anywhere, there are all kinds of traitors who could somehow report the movement.

Fifth. We finally need aircraft, because as all respected military experts say, they can be what will protect us from the GABs, because so far only air defense can do it, and until we don`t have them, air defense will hunt for the aircraft that throw the GABs, and the Russians will hunt for air defense.

And instead of the conclusion.

"The Russians are modernizing their equipment and learning. Their crews are becoming more experienced and their planes are more modern. They are evil, but evil and stupidity are not the same thing, so you should not assume the enemy is stupid by default because he is the enemy.

There is no need to panic or depress from such videos, it is important to take them into account and learn from them.

We also hit them with the same important systems, and more than they hit us, and fortunately, the Russians are still learning more slowly.
