The law on the reform of the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office adopted by the Verkhovna Rada the day before took into account most of the wishes of the SAPO, which the anti-corruption prosecutors had justified to strengthen their independence.

Law enforcers requested 45 times more search warrants in 2017 compared to 2012
118,884 requests to carry out searches at homes and other premises associated with suspects were filed to courts in 2017 (compared to 2,645 in 2012), and 257,744 motions to get temporary access to property and documents (with 10,152 in 2012). About 85 percent of such petitions were granted by the courts.
