On December 18, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made a traditional evening address to Ukrainian citizens.

The President noted: "I held a meeting today. We considered the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions in detail. Bakhmut direction is the key one. We are holding the city, although the occupants are doing everything to ensure that there is not a single wall left there.
Zaporizhzhia region, Kherson region, the South in general - we are gradually reducing the occupiers' potential. Minus warehouses, minus logistics of the Russian army.
Air defence is a permanent priority of the Staff, and I emphasize this once again. Dear partners! By helping us to fully protect our skies, by providing us with modern air defence systems in sufficient quantity as soon as possible, you can deprive the terrorist state of its major terror tool. This will be one of the most powerful steps that will bring the end of aggression closer. Russia will have to go the way of ending aggression when it can no longer go the way of missile strikes.
Also, the border was discussed in detail at the meeting. The protection of the border with both Russia and Belarus is also a constant priority. We are preparing for all possible defensive scenarios. No matter who and what Minsk is trying to persuade, it will not help them, as well as all other sick ideas in this war against Ukraine and Ukrainians.
