In Russia, on Monday, February 13, an explosion occurred on the backup line of the underwater section of the Ukhta-Torzhok gas pipeline across the Volga River in the Yaroslavl region (about 200 km north of Moscow).
This was reported by local governor Mikhail Evraev, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to LeagueBusinessInform.
"According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations in Yaroslavl Region, a gas pipeline ruptured near the village of Rypy in Myshkinsky District and caught fire. The fire has now been completely extinguished. Gas supply has been stopped. There is no threat to the population," he said.
Footage posted on social media shows a huge fire column at the site of the explosion.
The Russian propaganda agency RIA News cites information from the local Emergency Situations Ministry and indicates that a gas pipeline caught fire in the Myshkinsky municipal district of Yaroslavl region. Rescuers allegedly found that there was a "rupture of a gas pipeline with a diameter of approximately one meter."
The agency also stated that the emergency system was activated and the fire was quickly extinguished. At the same time, videos of several meters of flames at the site of the explosion have already appeared online.
The Ukhta-Torzhok gas pipeline is designed to transport 45 billion cubic meters of natural gas from the Yamal Peninsula to the Nord Stream per year.
