10th separate mountain assault brigade "Edelweiss" celebrates its 8th anniversary. VIDEO
Since 1 October 2015, the soldiers of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade have been defending Ukraine in the hottest spots of the frontline. Today marks the 8th anniversary of the brigade’s creation, which is honourably known as Edelweiss. The main mission of the 10th Air Assault Brigade is to conduct combat operations in mountainous and forested areas.
According to Censor.NET, the brigade was formed in the city of Bila Tserkva. It is based in Kolomyia.
The first commander of the 10th Separate Mountain Infantry Regiment was Hero of Ukraine Lieutenant Colonel Vasyl Zubanych, who had previously commanded the 15th Mountain Infantry Battalion. It was he who took on the task of restoring the abandoned military unit and creating the conditions for the 10th Separate Mountain Brigade to be based in Kolomyia.
The brigade was awarded the honorary name Edelweiss by a decree of the President of Ukraine dated 14 January 2023.
On 5 May 2023, the 10th separate mountain assault brigade Edelweiss was awarded the honorary decoration "For Courage and Bravery" by a decree of the President of Ukraine.
