Unique footage and testimonies about the events at the Chonhar entry-exit checkpoint
On 24 February 2022, a battle took place at the Chonhar checkpoint between Ukrainian defenders and Russian invaders. This was the first documented testimony from eyewitnesses and participants of those events, shedding light on the heroic resistance of our military on the first day of the full-scale invasion.
The Butusov Plus YouTube channel features unique footage of the mined Chonhar Bridge and firsthand accounts from those who took part in the battle. Many of them are either still in captivity or have been killed. The authors urge anyone with additional information about those events to come forward to help establish a complete picture of the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian military in the southern sector, Censor.NET reports.
The participants, including a Sokar petrol station employee, border guards, an armored vehicle driver, and the head of intelligence in the South, shared their memories of the defense preparations and the first hours of the invasion. They recounted the placement of mines on the Chonhar Bridge, attempts to detonate it, and the reasons why these attempts failed. They also highlighted the losses of the 137th Marine Battalion, which was the first to open fire on the enemy convoy.
