Household electricity customers in Ukraine should prepare for a new wave of tariff revisions. According to government plans and recommendations from international partners, the price of electricity may rise by 20% starting this year.

This was stated by Oleh Popenko, head of the Utilities Consumers Union, Censor.NET reports.

According to Popenko, the first tariff increase could come as early as 2026 and will take place in several stages.

"This had been set out since last year in the documents submitted to us, both in the recommendations of the International Monetary Fund and in the actions of the Cabinet of Ministers, which also spelled out the need to raise utility tariffs. Yes, in its letter last year, the Economy Ministry, responding to an inquiry, wrote that it plans to raise utility tariffs by 20% annually from 2026 to 2028," he said.

At the same time, experts stress that alongside higher prices, the state must improve the system of targeted subsidies for vulnerable groups in order to ensure social protection for citizens.
