Protests near Rada building in Kyiv on Oct. 17. PHOTOS+VIDEO

At around 9 a.m., protesters started arriving at the parliamentary building, the Verkhovna Rada, in Kyiv.

At around 10 p.m., about 1,000 protesters gathered at the Verhovna Rada building in Kyiv. The access to the Constitution Square near the parliament is allowed through police checkpoints and metal detecting frames.

The protesters held banners reading their demands, including creation of Anti-corruption court, abolishing of parliamentary immunity, and enhancement of social protection (increase in pension payments, salaries, protection of Chornobyl disaster victims, and more loyal rates).

Flags and other insignia of various political parties are seen: Samopomich, Batkivshchyna, Hromadianska Pozytsia, Demokrarychnyi Alians, Rukh Novykh Syl, National Corps.

Activists with KyivPride flags joined the demonstration some time later.

Automaidan activists' cars were not allowed to the Rada building.
