NSDC Chief Turchynov: Ukrainian military successfully tested domestically produced ammunition. VIDEO+PHOTOS
Munitions produced by Ukrainian enterprises have successfully been tested at a firing range.
This was reported by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov upon completion of the firing test at Divychky military training area, Censor.NET reports citing the NSDC press service.

Turchynov said the NSDC had tasked the Ukraine's defense industry to launch production of ammunition. "This is a critical issue for strengthening the country's defense capability. Its relevance increased dramatically after two our major ammunition depots were destroyed," he said.

The NSDC secretary reported on successful firing test of the Ukrainian-made ammunition. "It was extremely important as it was the most sought-after ammunition, namely 152-mm artillery shells, fragmentation rounds for automatic grenade launchers (AGS), and 60-mm shells for new Ukrainian-produced mortars that are already in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he said adding that testing confirmed declared combat characteristics of all ammunition.

Turchynov noted that the mass production of munitions will be launched following soonest official testing and putting them into service of the Armed Forces. The NSDC secretary stressed that the mass production would address the ammunition shortfall and "our soldiers at the front line will no longer experience shortage of automatic grenade launcher munitions, large-caliber projectiles, or mortar shells."
