Cluster munitions, Bradley and Stryker: Pentagon confirms new military aid package for Ukraine

United States on Friday announced a new military aid package for Ukraine that includes so-called advanced dual-use conventional munitions (DPICM), or cluster munitions.
This information was voiced at a briefing by US Deputy Secretary of Defence for Political Affairs Colin Kahl, Censor.NET reports citingEuropean Pravda.
According to a Pentagon official, the aid package, which will be provided from US Army stockpiles, includes 155mm ammunition, including DPICM, 105mm shells, and ammunition for the Patriot and HIMARS systems.
In addition, the US will provide Ukraine with additional armoured vehicles such as Bradley and Stryker, precision-guided missiles, as well as spare parts and equipment, Kahl added.
The new package, explained the deputy head of the US Defence Ministry, will provide Ukraine with "hundreds of thousands of units of ammunition immediately".
Kahl announced that with the new military support package, the total amount of military assistance to Ukraine from the United States since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion exceeds $41.3 billion.
The White House has previously explained that the provision of cluster munitions is a temporary measure until the capacity to produce conventional artillery munitions is deployed. In addition, Ukraine pledged to minimise the risk of using cluster munitions.
