Every Fifth Ukrainian Earns Less than 1,500 Hryvnia per Month

According to official information of the State Statistics Service, in December last year, more than 5% of Ukrainians were paid less than the subsistence wage - that is, less than 1,134 thousand hryvnia. According to the Service there are over 510,000 people earning a salary like this.

Gazeta.ua reports that the majority of Ukrainians are paid less than 3 thousand hryvnia a month. The share of such wages is about 61%. Another 20% of Ukrainians are paid less than 1.5 thousand hryvnia - almost 2 million people. 1.4 million people (14.1%) are paid 1.5-2 thousand hryvnia.

1.2 million people (11.9%) are paid 2-2.5 thousand hryvnia, and about 1 million workers (10%) are rewarded for work by 2.5-3 thousand hryvnia. At the same time, a salary of more than 5 thousand hryvnia is received by nearly 1.4 million people. Salary of another 2.5 million workers is in the range of 3-5 thousand hryvnia.

The State Statistics Service has analyzed the income of about 10 million full-time workers who were paid 50% or more of their salary in December.
