Ukraine and pro-Russia rebels are holding talks on setting up a security zone around the crash site of a Malaysian jet that was apparently shot down in the separatist east. Ensuring the security of the site, where all 298 passengers were killed when the Boeing 777 crashed, is crucial to preserving evidence needed to piece together what and who brought it down.

Head of the Ukrainian security service Valentyn Nalyvaichenko said in televised remarks that the tripartite negotiations of the contact group initiated by President Poroshenko had agreed a 20km security zone "so that Ukraine could fulfill the most important thing - identify the bodies hand them over to relatives"

"We hope that the terrorists will go for it and give us an opportunity to work," he said. Head of the SSU also said that the tripartite group included representatives of Russia.
