Switzerland Following EU Toughens Sanctions Against Russia
Switzerland will develop additional measures that do not allow the use of the territory of the Confederation in order to circumvent the sanctions imposed by the European Union against Russia in connection with the situation in Ukraine.
According to the report released by the government, the appropriate instruction was given to the Federal Department of the Economy, Education and Research, Censor.NET reports citing Krym.Realii (Crimean Realities).
"The Federal Council took note of the new sector sanctions imposed by the European Union. It decided to supplement the already existing measures so that the Swiss territory does not serve as a circumvent to the sanctions," the communique stresses.
In this regard, the Ministry of Economy requested to develop "specific measures to disable ways to avoid the restrictions that the European Union has imposed."

In particular, the Swiss government announced that it has expanded the list of military goods, the supply of which is prohibited in Russia.
Earlier, Switzerland supported five of the six editions of the sanctions list of the European Union. In total, the Swiss "black list" includes 87 names and 20 companies.
