Poroshenko: Ukrainian Army Regrouping to Strengthen National Defense
Ukraine uses the period of truce to redeploy its military forces and to carry out rearmament.
As reported by Censor.NET citing LIGABusinessInform, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko mentioned this in his opening remarks at the extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.
"We shouldn't take off our guard. We are redeploying the detachments of our army, the National Guard, the border guards not for the sake of attacking, but defending our territory in an effective manner," Poroshenko said.
The President also pointed out that the third mobilization round was completed, while the defense enterprises have been working three shifts allowing to supply 30 tanks to the scene of military activities on a daily basis.
Poroshenko stressed that the three lines of defense for Mariupol, as well as the patriotic mindset of its residents, provide a safe backstop against the enemy.
"Our army is being created from scratch, while we are countering aggression from one of the largest armies in the world, Europe's leading military power, whose military have been in the constant mode of modernization over the last 20 years and possess the most up-to-date high-precision weapons in the world. Besides, they have experience fighting in the world's hot spots. Unfortunately, the military threat we are facing is a lasting one. This will not pass away... We should learn to live under these adverse conditions and to plan strategically for dozens of years ahead, not for months or years," Poroshenko elaborated.
