Protesters keep blocking police van with Saakashvili inside, construct barricade. PHOTOS

Supporters of Mikheil Saakashvili, the leader of the Rukh Novykh Syl party, continue blocking the paddy wagon in which the law enforcers are trying to take the politician away.

As reported by a correspondent for Censor. NET from the scene, Saakashvili supporters have constructed an improvised barricade on Triokhsviatytelska Street - a block away from the Maidan Nezalezhnosti square. The roadway is also closed off with a white SUV.

The paddy wagon tried to move up Triokhsviatytelska Street but the protesters promptly blocked its way. Some activists call to slash its tires to immobilize it. The police reportedly used tear gas.

Early Dec. 5, the law enforcers detained Saakashvili on charges of assisting crime ring members. His supporters blocked off the paddy wagon with the detained politician inside. During the search in Saakashvili's apartment, he went up to the roof of the house and was later detained by the law enforcers there.
