Defense Ministry Says Army Is 90% Ready for Winter
The level of materiel and technical support of the Armed Forces units stationed in the East of Ukraine is at 80-90% of the required volume.
This was stated at a press briefing of Deputy Defense Minister Aleksander Lyshchynskyi, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinfrom.
"The priority for the Ministry of Defense is a purchase order of the General Staff, which deals with supplying the units operating in the east of Ukraine. If in April the army had 9-12% of supplies, in September it is 80-90%," Lyshchynskyi said.
He informed that the security forces are switching to winter clothes on October 15, but in spite of that, "only yesterday 16 thousand winter coats were delivered as well as all hats, all the troops will be supplied with warm pants."
Lyshchynskyi also added that the Central Planning Institute developed projects for protective structures of different purposes, determined the number of mobile heating and the use thereof for the comfort of the military in the field.
"The appropriate amount of fuel, namely wood, has been procured. Mobile sources of power supply ranging from 2 to 60 kilowatts have been supplied. To accommodate the personnel in the field we have tents, mobile car shelters, furniture sets and other equipment," the Deputy Minister said.
