Russian Сourt Wants to Isolate Pilot Savchenko in Mental Hospital - Lawyer

Moscow’s Basmanny district court has decided today on the case of Nadia Savchenko to continue considering holding her mental examination on 13 October.

Until that moment, the Ukrainian pilot cannot be subjected to forced mental examination, Censor.NET reports quoting NP -Ukraina.

According to Savchenko's lawyers, today's session was closed-door upon the prosecution request, which was justified by the fact that they care about the Ukrainian pilot and do not want the information about her marital status and health to go public. According to lawyer Nikolay Polozov, the real reason behind the court's decision to opt for the closed-door session was the absence of any legal grounds for Savchenko's mental examination.

Another lawyer of the Ukrainian pilot, Ilya Novikov is sure that the investigators want to isolate Nadia. "We do not want her to be taken from us, the lawyers, as well as from the public for a month, nor does she. Because, as opposed to a jail, where lawyers have free access, it is much more complex in mental facilities. We consider this request as a clear move to isolate Savchenko from the world," Novikov said.
