Donetsk Governor: Today's Peace Is No Better Than War

Donetsk Governor Serhii Taruta says that the Donbas truce agreement has many flaws and does not change the situation for the better.

According to Censor.NET he stated it in his article in Ukrainska Pravda.

Taruta believes that the Minsk agreements, as well as the laws passed by the Verkhovna Rada on the special order of self-government in the Donbas and amnesty have many gaps.

"But the most important thing - the parties have no coherent vision of the future of the Donbas, which today is a key reason for criticism of the peace process. And this is the case, when a bad peace is no better (or even worse) than war," he wrote.

"In this scenario, it will be difficult to explain to Ukrainian citizens what the best sons of our country have been dying for, and why the state bore enormous costs of the anti-terrorist operation," the governor wrote.

Taruta also believes that the possible legitimization of the separatists in the Donbas through the process of local elections, as well as the precedent of the "special status" will be a reason to stir up separatist sentiments in other regions of Ukraine.
