OSCE Says Ukraine's Soldiers Banned From Counter Fire Near Mariupol

The anti-terrorist operation forces deployed in the area of Mariupol in the Donetsk region were ordered to stop the use of weapons, even to counter the insurgents’ attacks.

The Ukrainian military said this to the OSCE monitoring mission representatives according to the mission's report, Censor.NET said quoting RBK-Ukraine.

"The observers visited a number of checkpoints controlled by the Ukrainian army in the vicinity of Mariupol and the commanders informed them that at 06:00 pm on September 27 they received the order from their superiors to stop any use of weapons, including counter fire," the report published on 29 September says.

However, the observers recorded the sounds of gunfire in the eastern suburbs of Mariupol on September 26 and 27, according to the same report.

Earlier, the National Security and Defense Council reported that the militants' shells hit the residential area in the village of Talakivka near Mariupol, Donetsk region, on September 27.
