Poroshenko: First counter-sniper systems deployed near Avdiivka, Shyrokyne today

Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko says the first counter-sniper systems were installed on the outskirts of Avdiivka and Shyrokyne villages of the Donetsk region today.

"The first counter-sniper systems - long-range and very accurate ones - were deployed today," the head of state said during his working visit to the Lviv region, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"As soon as they (Russian-backed militants operating in Ukraine's east - Ed.) learned that these complexes were installed in the vicinity of Avdiivka and Shyrokyne, the intensity of the sniper fire instantly dropped," Poroshenko said stressing that Ukraine is not going to scrimp on its Armed Forces.
