High profile murder of activist Sarmat: police have five suspects in custody. PHOTOS
Law enforcers apprehended five suspects in the murder of volunteer soldier, well-known activist Vitalii Oleshko also known as Sarmat.
"Police officers apprehended four suspects riding a car in the city of Vasylivka, the Zaporizhia region. Another perpetrator was tracked and detained by the police in Berdiansk. All the five individuals were detained under article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code," police communications department quoted National Police Deputy Chief Viacheslav Abroskin as saying early on Wednesday, Censor.NET reports.
Abroskin also said that police located a car on one of the streets of Berdiansk in which they found a sawn-off shotgun.
He added that the law enforcers are taking steps to formally charge the detainees with involvement in the abovementioned crime.
"I am very grateful to the police officers for the excellent job they’ve done. I also thank our citizens who did not stay aside and actively assisted the police in identifying the perpetrators," Abroskin said.
As reported, a member of the Donbas Battalion, Vitalii Oleshko, nom de guerre Sarmat, was gunned down by an unidentified person in Berdiansk on July 31.
