SAP opens case against NABU chief Sytnyk. DOCUMENT (in Ukrainian)

Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine (SAP) registered a criminal investigation into possible misstatement by NABU Director Artem Sytnyk.

"The information about the probe into Artem Sytnik’s possible unlawful misstatement of assets was entered into the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations on Nov. 13 and the National Police was put in charge of the investigation," SAP First Deputy Head Maksym Hryshchuk told Ukrinform, Censor.NET reports.

He added that SAP couldn’t investigate this case due to competing interests.

The probe was initiated at the request of People’s Front MP Maksym Poliakov. He posted SAP’s formal response to his request confirming the case being opened.

It is worth noting that Kyiv’s District Administrative Court earlier received a claim from Studia Prava Law Firm regarding misstatement of assets disclosed in Sytnyk’s financial statements he filed in 2015, 2016, and 2017.

The plaintiff asked the court to recognize unlawful the NABU director’s failure to submit reliable information on his ownership of a land plot in the city of Sevastopol in his annual asset statements of 2015, 2016, 2017.
