CEC registers Poroshenko as presidential candidate

Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered the acting head of state Petro Poroshenko as a presidential candidate in the upcoming elections scheduled for March 31.
As reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrinform, CEC took the corresponding decision at a meeting on Thursday.
Jan. 29, Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko announced that he will run for the second term in presidential elections.
"The feeling of responsibility for the country, fellow men, older and younger generations of Ukrainians has prompted my decision to run for Ukraine presidency once again," he said.
Feb. 3, Poroshenko filed the documents with CEC. He is going to run as a self-nominated candidate.
As of Feb. 6, CEC has registered 37 presidential candidates. The registration process ends on Feb. 8.
