41 cases closed after court decriminalizes illegal enrichment, - NABU
Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) closed 16 criminal proceedings initiated on the facts of possible illegal enrichment.

March 14, in connection with the decision of the Constitutional Court of February 26 in 16 criminal proceedings initiated under Article 368-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine were closed, and the pre-trial investigations were considered to be completed.
In 25 criminal proceedings it was decided to close the criminal proceedings in terms of enrichment, but the case itself was not closed.
More than 15 criminal proceedings, which were initiated on the facts of possible enrichment were closed.
The Constitutional Court of Ukraine indicated that the constitutional provisions regarding the presumption of innocence and the inadmissibility of bringing a person to account for refusing to give a statement or explanations regarding himself, family members or close relatives should apply equally to all persons. The Constitution of Ukraine does not allow the restriction or cancellation of these guarantees in respect of certain categories of persons.
Feb. 26, the Constitutional Court recognized the article of the Criminal Code on liability for illegal enrichment as unconstitutional. Dec.12, 2017, 59 MPs appealed to the Constitutional Court with a complaint about the article in question. Their interests in the court are represented by People’s Front MP Pavlo Pinzenyk.
