U.S. Secretary of Treasury Delegation to Arrive to Ukraine
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden. They agreed that the U.S. Secretary of Treasury delegation will arrive in Kyiv next week.
Censor.NET reports citing the president of Ukraine press service. Biden announced the readiness of the United States to consider further economic and financial support to Ukraine. The issue of attracting funds from the International Monetary Fund was also raised during conversation. The cooperation in the financial sector and economic assistance will be discussed next week with the U.S. Secretary of Treasury delegation in Kyiv.
The interlocutors also discussed the humanitarian situation in the Donbas, in particular the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to suspend funding, since these funds are plundered and used to support terrorism. At the same time they disputed the possibility to deliver humanitarian aid consisting of essential goods for the Donbas residents in the territories controlled by the militants.
Poroshenko and Biden continued dialogue on topical issues of military-technical cooperation and the alternative scenarios for energy supplies feasibility. Censor.NET previously reported that the US House of Representatives urged Obama to impose new sanctions against Russia and provide weapons to Ukraine.
