Rada supported expansion of the NSDC authorities
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the bill #1343 "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine 'On National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine'" in the second reading and as a whole.
Head of the Committee on national security Serhiy Pashynskyi rejected charges that were announced yesterday by the "Samopomich" Party and the Radical Party.
"This bill does not mean a coup or restricting powers of the Anti-Corruption Bureau. Our committee has considered all amendments and re-recommendі it for consideration."
The MP said that the bill includes an important amendment regarding that the powers of the National Security Council are determined not only by the given law, but also by the Constitution of Ukraine
253 deputies voted in favor of the decision, Censor.NET reports.
It should be noted that this bill aims to improve coordination and control in the field of national security and defense. In addition, the bill requires the expansion of the National Security Council's powers.
It was reported earlier that the deputies refused to vote for the bill in question on Dec. 23. Later, the parliamentary Committee on national security and defense stated that the bill complies with the Constitution, and recommended to pass it at the second reading as a basis and as a whole.
