Debaltseve is Russia's slap in the EU face - Yelisieiev

The situation around Debaltseve is a slap in the face of the democratic international community and the EU in particular.
As reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrinform, this was announced by Ukraine's ambassador to the EU Kostiantyn Yelisieiev in an interview to Sky News.
"Here, we count very much on the EU support. Because what has happened near Debaltseve, which is a huge railway hub, is kind of a slap in the face of the democratic international community, in particular, in the face of the European Union," he said.
Yelisieiev noted that the war in Ukraine is "an open undeclared war in the nearest border regions with the European Union."
"We are calling upon the EU community to wake up in order to stop the bloodshed, to stop the war," he stressed.
According to Yelisieiev, it should not be allowed that peaceful negotiations and the dialogue became kind of 'smoke screen' for President Putin, which will allow him to promote his interests in the Donbas and destabilize the situation.
"Maybe it's high time to consider the idea of introducing some restrictive measures, namely sanctions, and to supply Ukraine with lethal weapons," he said.
