US ready to cancel anti-dumping duties on Ukrainian goods
The USA is ready to suspend the anti-dumping duties for Ukrainian pipe producers, steel companies, and the chemical industry.
Economic Development and Trade Minister of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius reached the agreement during a visit to the USA, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
"The American party proposed several solutions, including a possibility to sign Suspension Agreements (Agreements to suspend the anti-dumping duties). This is quite an important achievement, given the political sensitivity of these issues," the minister said.
Minister of Economy intends to bring Ukraine into the top 50 countries in terms of doing business within two years
This is a compromise, since the final cancellation of the duties is quite a difficult process. However, Abromavicius added, "we will continue to work on it."
The anti-dumping duties were imposed on Ukraine in 2007, when the country did not have the status of a market economy. "Now we are members of the WTO, and do not buy gas at a discounted price, which was one of the reasons for the introduction of such duties, since we did not use market mechanisms," the minister said.
