Ukraine should work hard to receive visa-free travel, Merkel says
German Chancellor Angela Merkel supports the idea of visa-free regime with Georgia and Ukraine.
She said this on Friday in Riga, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
Merkel said she saw very clear prospects of introducing visa-free regime for Georgia and Ukraine.
The head of the German government noted that the two countries must fulfill the conditions first, which means a lot of hard work. The European Commission will assess the results of the two countries' efforts at the end of the year.
Merkel called the meetings that were held Thursday-Friday in Riga well-balanced.
She noted that the joint communique summarizing the summit's results would clearly state the necessity to protect the territorial integrity of any state, adding that this was a joint position of the countries of the Eastern Partnership.
