The court detained second Russian commando Yerofeyev
Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention until July 19 of this year for detained Russian special forces captain Evgeniy Yerofeyev.
Thus, the court granted the request of the Security Service of Ukraine on election of a preventive measure in the form of detention for the Russian commando for two months. This decision was announced by investigating judge Valeriia Malynovska, Censor.NET reports citing RBC-Ukraine.
Suspect Yerofeyev participated in the hearing via video conference. The prosecutors asked to choose a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
The representative of the Prosecutor's office believes that milder preventive measure will not ensure the proper implementation of the proceedings. The prosecutor believes that Yerofeyev can hide from the investigation and influence witnesses. Yerofeyev's lawyer opposed the arrest of the Russian.
Earlier, official representative of Defense Ministry of Russian Federation Igor Konashenkov said that the Ministry expects the release of the detained Russian citizens in Ukraine noting that the detained Yerofeyev and Aleksandrov are "former" Russian servicemen. Today Peskov, the press-secretary of Putin, demanded to release the Russian servicemen.
