EU reaches agreement on granting EUR 18 billion to Ukraine

EU countries have reached an agreement to provide Ukraine with a financial assistance package in amount of EUR 18 billion.
It was reported by EU Council press service, informs Censor.NЕТ referring to RBK-Ukraine.
The EU Council has reached an agreement on a package of legislation that will provide €18 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine through 2023. The proposal was adopted today and will be submitted to the European Parliament for possible adoption next week.
"Ukraine can count on the EU. We will continue to support Ukraine, including financially, as long as necessary. The legislation that we have adopted today means that Ukraine can count on regular financial assistance from the EU throughout 2023," Czech Finance Minister Zbyněk Staniura said.
The package provides structural solutions for financial support to Ukraine in 2023. The amount of the loan to be provided to Ukraine in 2023 will be EUR 18 billion, the loans will have a 10-year grace period. Member States will cover the bulk of the interest costs from externally assigned revenues. Guarantees for this borrowing will be provided either from the EU budget or by Member States.
