Italian government decides to transfer SAMP/T SAM battery to Ukraine - media
According to RID, the Italian government has decided to transfer to Ukraine a SAMP/T anti-aircraft missile system battery capable of shooting down ballistic missiles. The "green light" was given over the past 2-3 days on the instructions of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

It is noted that about two weeks ago, the issue of supplying the SAMP/T battery remained open due to the reluctance of both the defense ministry and the military - given that Italy has only five SAMP/T batteries in service, and one of them is deployed in Kuwait as part of Operation INHERENT. RESOLVE - and some politicians in the government majority.
The publication reports that "strong pressure from Washington" helped speed up the decision to transfer the batteries to Ukraine.
"The scheme under which the battery is to be transferred is very complicated and the details are currently confidential. According to rumors, the battery will consist of "pieces" of the Italian system and "pieces" of the French system," the article says.
The SAMP/T battery is based on the ASTER 30 Block 1 interceptor and is an effective system mainly against cruise and anti-radar missiles, large drones, and also has a limited antiballistic potential (against short-range missiles).
