No toxic substances, just fuel is burning at the oil depot near Vasylkiv, the Kyiv region.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov told journalists, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
"According to the available documents, there were no substances at this facility that, let's say, threaten people's lives. In addition, we are not far from the seat of the fire and we also smell that it is exceptionally petroleum products that are burning," he said.
At the same time, according to him, it is necessary to localize and completely stop the fire first, and after that deal with environmental consequences.
"The headquarters is working. There are also environmentalists who are making assessment of the situation," Turchynov said.
