The head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, and the newly appointed Minister of Defense of Germany, Boris Pistorius, held negotiations on the transfer of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. The parties failed to reach an agreement.

This is reported by CNN, informed by Censor.NET.

According to the American TV channel, Austin and Pistorius met on the eve of the "Ramstein" meeting, which will take place in Germany on Friday, January 20.

U.S. officials familiar with the situation said the tank issue had not yet been decided before Friday's meeting, and "it would be surprising if Germany changed its mind despite pressure from Lloyd Austin," CNN reported, citing its own sources.

The TV channel quotes a source who said that before the meeting in Washington, they were "very optimistic and confident that they will make progress" on the issue of the transfer of tanks.
