France does not rule out supplying Ukraine with fighter jets: "We must leave all doors open"
France does not rule out possibility of supplying fighter jets to Ukrainian Armed Forces, provided that it does not escalate war, undermine national or European security, and is beneficial to Ukrainians.
This was stated by a close ally of French President Emmanuel Macron, the head of the National Assembly Committee on National Defense and the Armed Forces, Thomas Gassilloud, informs Censor.NЕТ referring to LeagueBusinessInform.
"We have to study the requests on a case-by-case basis and leave all doors open. In the coming weeks, we will see what happens next, as events are developing rapidly," the French MP said.
He also noted that France is unlikely to send Leclerc tanks because they do not match the announced deliveries from the US and Germany. Earlier, Macron said that he "does not rule out anything" regarding the possibility of supplying Ukraine with Leclerc tanks.
"They are not the best asset that we can provide to Ukraine, in particular because it will be expensive and difficult for Ukrainians to deal with different types of tanks. We are thinking, for example, about surface-to-air capabilities," Gassilloud said.
He emphasized that both tanks and airplanes require long-term training, as each pilot needs up to 20 ground personnel.
