At least 10 attempts were made against the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov.

The Washington Post writes about this with reference to a person close to him, Censor.NET informs.

"According to a person close to Budanov, at least 10 attempts were made on him. In 2019, a bomb was planted under his car, but it detonated prematurely," the article says.

The newspaper reports that Budanov lives in his office leads a cautious lifestyle and rarely appears in public.

According to WP, classical music plays 24 hours a day in his office. There is a weapon hidden in the corner, and there are cartridges on the table.

Budanov remains a target for the Kremlin because, after the explosion on the Crimean bridge in October, Moscow named Defence Intelligence's agents led by the head as the culprits.

Budanov's rapid rise to the level of one of the youngest generals in the history of Ukraine accelerated in August 2016, when a lieutenant colonel of the Russian Federal Security Service was killed in Crimea.

Budanov was believed to be one of the Ukrainian special operators working behind enemy lines, and he was later awarded the Ukrainian "Order of Courage" for undisclosed operations.

In 2020, when he was only 34 years old, he was appointed the head of the Defence Intelligence.

Budanov neither confirms nor denies the operation or his participation in it: "Something happened... And after that, all the attempts on my life began."
