The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published operational information regarding the Russian invasion as of 6:00 p.m. on January 31, 2023.

In the evening summation, it is noted: "The three hundred and forty-second day of the Russian large-scale invasion continues.
The Russian Federation continues to wage full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine. The enemy does not abandon his intentions to destroy the critical infrastructure of our state and strikes at civilian objects and homes of the civilian population.
The Russian occupiers launched 3 air strikes and 3 missile strikes during the day. More than 20 attacks were also carried out from rocket salvo systems. Civil infrastructure was damaged in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Kherson regions.
The threat of air and missile strikes remains throughout Ukraine.
The enemy continues to conduct offensive actions in the Lyman and Bakhmut directions, suffering heavy losses. Conducts unsuccessful offensive actions in the Avdiivka and Novopavliv directions. In the Kupiansk and Zaporizhzhia directions, he leads the defense of previously captured lines.
The positions of our units and civilian objects are being shelled in the Kherson direction.
- In the Volyn, Polissia, Siversk, and Slobozhansk directions, the situation has not changed significantly, and no offensive groups of the enemy have been detected.
- In the Siversk direction, the enemy fired mortars in the areas of Klyusy, Mystka, Huta-Studenetska, Leonivka settlements of Chernihiv region; Sopych, Volfyne of Sumy region and Lemishchyne of Kharkiv region.
- In the Slobozhansk direction, the enemy does not stop shelling the positions of our troops along the contact line. As a result of mortar and artillery shelling, the areas of settlements: Veterynarne, Strelecha, Hlyboke, Zelene, Neskuchne, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Staritsa, Budarki of the Kharkiv region were affected.
- In the Kupyiansk direction, the enemy shelled the positions of our troops in the areas of the settlements of Ivanivka, Kupiansk, Kislivka, Kotliarivka of the Kharkiv region and Novoselivske, Kovalivka of the Luhansk region.
- In the Lyman direction, the enemy launched mortar and artillery attacks in the areas of the settlements of Novoiehorivka, Nevske, Chervonpopivka, Kreminna, and Dibrova of the Luhansk region.
- In the direction of Bakhmut, the areas of settlements: Verkhniokamyanske, Spirne, Berestove, Bilohorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanovske, Predtechine, Klishchiivka, Kurdiumivka, Druzhba and Mayorsk of the Donetsk region were hit by fire.
- In the Avdiivka direction, areas of Berdychi, Tonenke, Severne, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Heorhiivka, Mariinka, and Pobieda settlements of the Donetsk region came under enemy fire.
- In the Novopavlivka direction, the areas of settlements: Velyka Novosilka, Neskuchne, Novoukrainka, Bohoiavlenka, Vuhledar, and Mykilski Dachi of the Donetsk region were hit by fire.
- In the Zaporizhzhia region, the areas of 15 settlements suffered fire damage, in particular: Vremivka and Novopil of the Donetsk region; Malynivka, Huliaipole, Charivne, Orihiv, Novodanilivka of the Zaporizhzhia region.
- In the Kherson direction, areas of 17 settlements, including Zolota Balka, Beryslav, Vesele, Mykolaivka, Tiahinka, Poniativka, Antonivka, Berehove, Yantarne of the Kherson region and the city of Kherson, were hit by multiple rocket launchers, barrel artillery, and mortars. There are victims among the civilian population.
The occupiers sent filtering and counter-sabotage measures to the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson region. Thus, the Russian occupying forces have restricted entry and exit from the settlement of Ulianivka, local residents are being searched and mobile phones are being checked.
In Donetsk, among servicemen of the Russian occupation forces and mercenaries of the so-called "Wagner" PMC, the number of particularly dangerous infections has increased significantly, which may be related to the lack of normal sanitary and hygienic conditions in the locations of enemy units.
During the current day, the aviation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine carried out 9 strikes on areas where the enemy's manpower, weapons, and military equipment are concentrated, and 2 strikes on the positions of anti-aircraft missile systems.
Units of missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck 9 areas of concentration of the enemy's manpower and 1 ammunition warehouse during the day.
