Morawiecki: Future of Poland itself depends on assistance to Ukraine

моравецький

The future of Poland itself depends on how effective the assistance of Poland and other allies to Ukraine will be, and it is closely linked to the victories or failures in the neighboring country fighting Russian aggression.

As informs Censor.NЕТ with reference to Ukrinform, this was stated by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to the Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.

"We are helping Ukraine because our neighbour to the east determines what our future will look like; we are doing more than others because we have more to gain and more to lose," the Polish leader emphasized.

At the same time, he reminded that just a few months ago Ukraine had been granted the status of an EU candidate country and expressed support for its efforts on the path to full membership.

"Obtaining candidate status... was a great success. But we cannot stop halfway. Ukraine is paying a huge and bloody price today for trying to free itself from the Russian boot. The events on Kyiv's Maidan put (the country - ed.) on the path to the EU, and the vision of Ukrainians to join the EU motivates them to stay on this path, on this extremely difficult and dangerous road," Morawiecki said.

He emphasized that Ukraine will not be able to defeat Russia without the solidarity of the West, including sanctions, financial, humanitarian and military assistance.

"Continuing the enthusiasm that is now present in European official halls will not be easy. But the most important thing we must continue is European unity and determination to support Ukraine's defenders. We have woken up the West, so we cannot let it fall asleep again," the Polish Prime Minister emphasized.
